Kitchen & Dining

At Tic Tocs Nursery, mealtimes are an important part of the day, bringing children together to share, explore, and enjoy food in a relaxed and welcoming environment. All meals are freshly prepared on site by our wonderful cook, using seasonal ingredients to create varied and nutritious menus that change throughout the year.

We are proud to offer a pork-free menu that reflects our diverse community, with meals and celebrations inspired by festivals such as Diwali, Eid, and Ramadan. Children are encouraged to try new foods and experience different flavours, helping to build confidence and curiosity around food. From themed decorations to shared meals, dining at Tic Tocs is about more than just eating, it’s about community, culture, and enjoying new experiences together.

Outdoor Play

Our recently revamped outdoor space is a vibrant and inspiring area where children can explore, create, and learn through hands-on experiences every day. Designed to support all areas of development, the garden offers something for everyone, from digging and building in the sandpit and mud kitchen, to climbing, riding bikes, and engaging in imaginative small world play. Children can care for the bug hotel and take part in planting activities within our green spaces, helping them develop a sense of responsibility and an early understanding of sustainability.

A dedicated sensory area adds another layer of discovery, with features such as rainbow curtains, mirrors, and spirals, all within a covered space that can be enjoyed in all weathers. This calm yet stimulating environment encourages curiosity, creativity, and exploration.

We also make the most of our location in the heart of Exeter, regularly heading out into the local community. Children enjoy visits to museums, parks, splash parks, and the library, including popular Bounce and Rhyme sessions. We even take trips further afield, hopping on the train to places like Exmouth and Darts Farm. These real-world experiences broaden children’s understanding of the world, build confidence, and bring learning to life beyond the nursery walls.

Learning beyond four walls

Children are encouraged to explore outdoors in all seasons, building confidence, physical skills, and a lifelong appreciation for nature. We believe the outdoors is not a break from learning; it's where some of the most meaningful learning happens.
