A Typical Day

A Day at Tic Tocs

At Tic Tocs, every day is shaped by the children, their interests, and the rich mix of cultures within our community. With around 20 languages spoken by families and staff, our learning is naturally influenced by the diverse backgrounds of the children who attend. Alongside play and discovery, children experience different languages, traditions, and celebrations as part of everyday life.

A Welcoming Start

The day begins with a warm welcome and breakfast, helping children settle in and feel at home. As the morning unfolds, children move between a range of play-based experiences indoors and outdoors. They might explore creative activities, take part in imaginative role play, or engage in experiences inspired by different cultures, such as storytelling in home languages, music from around the world, or celebrations like Eid and Diwali. Practitioners follow children’s interests while introducing new ideas, supporting their confidence, communication, and sense of belonging.

Coming Together

Shared times like snacks and meals bring children together to talk, connect, and try new foods, reflecting our inclusive and varied menus. Group times, including stories and songs, often celebrate the diversity of our community, giving children opportunities to hear and use different languages.

Exploring Beyond Our Walls

Outdoor play and local outings are an important part of the day, whether exploring our garden or visiting parks, libraries, and places around Exeter. These experiences help children understand the world around them while building independence.
