Age Ranges & Rooms

At Tic Tocs Nursery, we offer a warm and welcoming environment where every child and family feels at home. Our rooms are thoughtfully designed to reflect the different stages of children’s development, providing spaces that are nurturing, engaging, and full of opportunity.

Each room has been carefully created to encourage exploration, build confidence, and support independent thinking. With inviting resources, calm and stimulating areas, and opportunities for both play and discovery, children are supported to learn and grow in ways that feel natural to them. As they move through the nursery, each space builds on their development, helping them become confident, curious, and capable learners.

Our Indoor Spaces

Ladybirds (3 months to 2 years)

Our Ladybirds room is a calm, nurturing space where our youngest children begin their journey at Tic Tocs. We understand how important these early months and years are, so we take time to follow each baby’s individual home routine, helping them feel safe, secure, and settled from the very start. Building strong, caring bonds is at the heart of everything we do, creating a trusting environment where babies can thrive.

Through gentle, play-based experiences, babies are encouraged to explore the world around them. Sensory books, musical instruments, and loose parts play provide opportunities for discovery, supporting early development, curiosity, and communication. Every moment is thoughtfully planned to lay strong foundations for their future learning, while ensuring they feel happy and comforted every day.

The Cubs (2 - 3 years)

The Cubs room is a lively and engaging space where our older toddlers begin to find their voice, build friendships, and grow in confidence. At this stage, communication is a key focus, and children are supported through rich language experiences, including story sacks, singing, and imaginative role play. These everyday interactions help develop vocabulary, listening skills, and a love of sharing ideas with others.

We also place great importance on supporting children’s emotional development. Through activities such as face cards, emotion stories, and emotion stones, children begin to understand and express their feelings, as well as recognise those of others. In this nurturing environment, they are encouraged to build friendships, develop empathy, and learn how to navigate the world around them with confidence and care.

Preschool (3 - 5 years)

Our Preschool room is a vibrant and engaging space where children grow in confidence, independence, and self-expression as they prepare for their next steps. At this stage, children are encouraged to share their own ideas, make choices about their learning, and develop a strong sense of who they are. Practitioners support this by providing a balance of child-led play and gentle adult guidance, helping children build important skills in a supportive and nurturing environment.

Children take part in a range of activities that support their early learning, including group times such as sitting together for stories, as well as experiences that introduce early literacy and numeracy. Through play and everyday interactions, they begin recognising their name, shapes, and numbers, while continuing to develop communication, confidence, and independence, giving them a strong foundation for their transition to school.
